Guitars Over Guns is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has been empowering young people through mentorship and the arts since 2008.
We work in Miami, Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles, pairing students with professional musician mentors: artists who have built real careers in music and who show up, week after week, for the young people in their communities.
Mentorship is the mission
Music is how we start the conversation. Mentorship is why it lasts.
A student might come to us for the drums, the mic, or the studio. What they leave with is a relationship with an adult who believes they're capable of extraordinary things, and who keeps showing up long enough to prove it.
Talent is universal. Opportunity is not.
That belief has driven everything since 2008. Young people everywhere have something worth hearing. What isn't distributed evenly is the instrument, the studio time, the mentor, the stage. All the practical scaffolding a creative life needs.
Guitars Over Guns exists to close that gap in the four cities we call home.
